Contemporary Art from the United Arab Emirates in me Collectors Room Featuring works from The ADMAF Art Collection

PORTRAIT OF A NATION - BERLIN offers a glimpse into the creative practices of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and invites the viewer to explore the country through the individual perspectives of 50 artists who call it home. From considerations of nation and unity, to discussions around tradition and heritage in one of the world’s most rapidly changing nations, more than 50 works also explore both the diversity of the UAE’s rural and urban landscapes as well as major issues such as identity, spirituality and language.

This major exhibition of contemporary Emirati art features works from the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) which is among the oldest, not-for-profit cultural organisations in the Arabian Gulf. Founded in 1996, ADMAF has pioneered new artistic practices over last 20 years, seeking to deepen global cross-cultural dialogue and inspire a renewed interest in the creativity of the UAE and the wider Arab region.
