Abu Dhabi, UAE, June 2010:  The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) today announced it is bringing the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra to Fujairah for a one off concert for the Fujairah community. The initiative, which falls under the umbrella of ADMAF’s extensive year round community program, aims to reach out to the community through art and to support the UAE’s up and coming artists.

The performance, to be held at the Cultural Theatre in Fujairah on Friday June 4, will feature a rich programme of works by some of the giants of the classical music world, including Handel, Mozart, Vivaldi, Monti and others. The young musicians will also present a piece of Arabic folk song, composed by the Orchestra’s founder and conductor, Mr. Riad Kudsi.

Established in 1993, the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to teaching the universal language of classical music to children and teenagers from schools across the UAE. The orchestra is formed of over 25 musicians coming from different countries in the world, including the UAE, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, USA, France, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, India and many others. A truly multicultural group of young and extremely gifted musicians, the Orchestra is one of the UAE’s most promising artistic endeavours. It has participated in several international music festivals in countries such as the Czech Republic, France, Kuwait and Oman.

The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation’s support for the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra has its roots in the Foundation’s dedication to promote the young artists in UAE.  In early April 2010, the Orchestra performed a tour of the UAE labelled, the 6th Emirates International Peace Music Festival, as part of the annual Abu Dhabi Festival, ADMAF’s flagship event and what has now become an internationally acclaimed music and arts festival.

The upcoming concert in Fujairah is an extension of the foundation’s efforts to bring arts to various communities in the UAE and celebrate the talent of the country’s upcoming artists.

Mrs. Hoda Al Khamis-Kanoo, Founder of the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation, said:

“It brings me great pleasure to continue to support the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra, whose members are cultural ambassadors of the UAE par excellence. The Orchestra, the multicultural character of which is a true reflection of the UAE society, will perform a selection of works of both Western and Arabic music, transforming the concert in Fujairah to a true celebration of cultures. This wonderful performance not only embodies our aspirations to bring arts and culture to communities across the UAE, but will also provide further opportunity to the country’s young musicians to share their talent with the wider community.”

The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation’s community programme spans the seven Emirates and strives to unite the UAE communities through art. With its community programme, ADMAF continues to reach out to communities and civil society organisations across the country through the universal language of art.

The Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra concert in Fujairah will be held at the Fujairah Cultural Theatre - Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, starting 7 pm on Friday June 4. The performance is open to the public.
