ADMAF grooms tomorrow’s professionals as Young Media Leaders

The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) today celebrated the graduation of 14 Emirati university students from the vocational development course, Young Media Leaders.

The Young Media Leaders initiative, now entering its seventh year, is supported by the Patron & President of ADMAF, His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth & Community Development. It is operated in partnership with twofour54 tadreeb, the training academy of Abu Dhabi’s media content creation community.

Young Media Leaders seeks to nurture the knowledge and skills of high achieving Emirati students specially selected from Zayed University, the Higher Colleges of Technology and UAE University (Al Ain) across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Through a series of vocational workshops, study trips and practical experience (totalling 63 hours of study) over the course of nine months, they acquire a broad range of media skills and techniques. In addition, students have the opportunity to meet and discuss with leading international and local industry professionals, including inspiring figures such as Turki Al Dakhil, Amina Al Awadhi, Mai Shehab, Dr Suleiman Al Hattlan and Nasser Al Dhaheri, among others.

Since its launch in September 2007, more than 150 Emirati students have graduated from ADMAF’s Young Media Leaders initiative. They have undertaken a total of 495 hours of media training; attended lectures by 79 leading media professionals; participated in 63 media workshops and published 7 editions of the MyNews magazine, which have been distributed across the country by Al Ittihad and The National newspapers.
