Photojournalism: Views from Near and Far

Twenty-two students from Zayed University last night saw their work on display for the first time at Abu Dhabi’s Ghaf Art Gallery. The exhibition, now in its 5th year is held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and is organized by the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) in collaboration with Zayed University.
Speaking during the opening night ADMAF Founder H.E. Mrs Hoda Al Khamis Kanoo highlighted the importance of developing specialised skills within the media. “By encouraging young student talent to develop specialized skills such as photojournalism we hope to contribute to the enrichment of the Emirati media and seed a new generation of Nationals with the skills and confidence to become future media leaders.”
Adding. “Each of the works displayed here represent years of study and practical fieldwork by this group of talented young women, who’s skills will benefit not only themselves but to the preservation and development of our cultural heritage and National identity.”
Twenty-two students from the College of Communication and Media Sciences at Zayed University have created a visual journey that exposes the innovative skills and motivation gleaned from their photography courses. Motivation that will help expedite their careers in the media industry.
ADMAF and Zayed University have collaborated successfully since the autumn of 2007 and this exhibition reinforces our shared belief in enriching communities across the emirates through education and by promoting the positive aspects of creativity in education.
