'Wild About Art'
The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation is proud to announce the third Children’s Art Tent at Al AinZoo January 23rd 2012. The Children’s Art Tent is a hugely successful initiative that aims at helping children learn about wildlife, nature and their local environment through the medium of art. The project is free to all ticket holders visiting the Al Ain Zoo and will run over a period of one month and incorporate various exciting workshops and activities aimed at children between 4 - 15 years old.
Professional artists and instructors will be on hand to teach and encourage children in their chosen activity which will include mask-making, painting on canvas, finger-painting and puppet making. An exhibition of all the children’s art work will appear in the Main Tent also at the close of the Art Tent a giant mural featuring work by all the children will be on view to all parents and visitors.
Last year’s event saw more than 2000 visitors attend the park during Art Tent and the 2012 event hopes to be even bigger and better with more activities and more artistic challenges for our young guests.
Speaking about the previous Art Tent events H.E. Mrs Hoda Al Khamis Kanoo , Founder of ADMAF said, “The success of the Children’s Art Tent has always been down to children’s natural ability and affinity with art. Add to this the wonderful location of the Al Ain Wildlife Park and you have a winning combination. ADMAF’s Education programme is the cornerstone of our foundation and it delights me to see how much children can be energized and inspired by art. We strongly believe, and will continue to promote, art and culture as key elements in a child’s education and hope that this early introduction to art and nature will inspire them to consider their own rich heritage and their own diverse environment here in the UAE.”
Among the many events on offer to children, this year will also include junior Yoga classes, animal mask making, magic carpets (students will use crayon and paper to rub onto various fabrics and surfaces to create a large wall hanging) and puppet making where children will be encouraged to characterize their own artistic personality with simple materials such as felt and socks. The workshops are a return to low-tech fun, using the simplest of materials children have no limits other than that of their young imaginations.
